A treat for the market vendors of Orani

The market vendors of Orani, a coastal municipality in the province of Bataan, were overjoyed when they were treated to an early dinner in Manila by businessman Antonio “Jon” Arizapa Jr. last Sunday.

In a Facebook post, Arizapa said he brought them to Moonhey Hot Pot and Grill in Banaue, Quezon City, where they enjoyed a feast of various dishes and drinks. The vendors said that it was their first time to experience such a special treatment and appreciation from an individual. They expressed their gratitude and admiration for his generosity and kindness. They also said that they were happy to see the sights and sounds of Manila, which they rarely get to visit. Arizapa, who is a regular customer of the Orani market, said that he wanted to give back to the hardworking vendors who provide him with quality products and services. He said that he was inspired by their resilience and dedication amid the challenges brought by the pandemic. He also said that he hoped to inspire other people to share their blessings and help others in need. “Tinawag ko itong, ‘Pagsusukli Kay Suki’, Masaya ako na makasamang kumain ang ating mga magigiting na tindera sa palengke na nagbibigay ng sariwa at kalidad na bilihin para sa ating hapag kainan. Karapat dapat lang natin punuin ang kanilang puso ng kaligayahan! Ang inyong bawat ngiti ay nagbibigay ng sa akin ng higit na saya!,” pahayag ni Jon Arizapa sa kanyang Facebook Page.

The Orani market is one of the sources of livelihood for many residents of the town, which has a population of 70,342 as of 2020. The market sells various agricultural and aquaculture products, such as rice, coffee, vegetables, fruits, flowers, fish, crabs, and oysters. The town also has a rich history and culture, as it was founded in 1891 and became an independent missionary center in 1714.
